LIMITATION OF INSTALLATION
A water heater should not be installed in a bathroom or a bedroom, unless it is of the entouses.
(7.26.1)
All water heaters must be fitted with a safety valve pressure and temperature approved and include a pipe discharge complies with local plumbing code.
The exhaust pipe must have a diameter at least equal to that of the output of the device and must end at 12 inches (300 mm) on the floor. (7.26.2)
Condensing Tankless Gas Water Heater
Instantaneous water heaters installed on a combustible wall must be protected by an insulating board of 0.25 in (8 mm) or equivalent, which extends over the entire length and the entire the width of the water heater and its draft hood, unless otherwise directed by the manufacturer. (7.26.3)
OPERATION
There are three types of evacuation of combustion gases when it comes to hot water heaters:
1. Atmospheric vent requiring a chimney on the roof. This unit is autonomous in case of power failure.
2. Direct vent and to be installed near a wall on the outside. This unit is autonomous in case of power failure.
3. Mechanical evacuation and with only very little installation constraints. This unit is not autonomous in case of power failure.
Advantages
> Recovers its heat at least two times faster than electric water heater, generating energy savings.
> Provides hot water in abundance.
> Allows for hot water even in case of electrical failure since most models are autonomous.
> Provides flexible installation with three types of evacuation.
> Moves to a yield of 90% through condensing models.
OPERATION
Rather than heat and maintain hot water from a tank, the tankless water heater only heats the water required
Tankless Water Heaters benefits
Requires no tank and very little space. For example, some systems are 24 x 30 x 6 in.
> Provides for hot water and continuously. The system can generate up to 8.5 gallons of hot water per minute.
> Provides energy saving substantial compared to electric water heater.
> The unit should not be installed in a place where there may be the presence of flammable vapor or risk of frozen water pipes.
> In the case of a water heater which takes its combustion air inside rather than outside, the installation must have a fresh air determined based on Natural Gas Code and the Régie du bâtiment.
> Important: consult the manufacturer's installation guide before setting up a natural gas water heater.
DO NOT FORGET
> Check the following with the installer:
- The ability of the device according to the hot water needs to be filled;
- Location versus the allowable length for the exhaust vents;
- Outside clearance space required for installation of the drainage system.
The domestic hot water is a significant energy expenditure in Quebec for Quebec households and businesses. Thanks to their compactness and their modern operation, instantaneous water heaters tend to carve out an enviable market position of domestic hot water and heating (Mode "combo").
These devices are characterized by the absence of reservoir. They must be selected to ensure the production of continuous hot water or instantly.
On detection of a flow (greater than 2.3 L / min-0.01 GPM), the power of good burner turns on automatically and the plan required to bring the temperature of outlet water to a predetermined value . Variation on the required flow, the burner adjusts accordingly.
With a water inlet temperature of 20 ° C and 50 ° C at the exit, this type of water heater can produce up to 26 L / min (GPM 7) domestic hot water. We find two types on the market, or water heaters instant high efficiency (78-89%) and condensing (90% more).
